Hosoonyi Restaurant
If you're looking for draft tofu soup, that spicy, tasty soup served boiling hot to you in a cast iron bowl, one of my Korean friends told me this place ranks up there with the best joints in New York. I'm not sure about that, but I do love the food here. Bee bim bop, bulgogi, chap che, bbq pork, it's all great stuff. My mom loves all the little side dishes they bring out that accompanies any meal: various pickles, kim chee, sprouts, anchovies, etc. Your digestive system will pay for it later, but to me it's worth it every time!
If you come during peak business hours, be prepared to wait in line. The Korean grocery store next door is a good distraction, and they sell awesome seaweed and korean ramen. There are roughly 10 tables, but they also have a section of about 8 tables where you take off your shoes and sit on the floor to eat. We've had larger parties (10-12) here and it's been fun.
Tip: service isn't all that great UNLESS you happen to come with someone older. I came with my grandparents and WOW were they accommodating and fast for us. The whole respect-for-elders thing really bumps you up in the priority queue!
