the happy hour is a really good deal and its a nice outdoor location in the summer. i took part in the sockeye salmon family style meal with some friends and i thought it was really delicious. it was more than enough for the four of us. yum!

Close to the U, wonderful view, fast service, lots of space for large groups (especially outside), good beer, and great happy hour prices. Though the food in the Whalemaker Lounge really isn't all that good (read standard fishhouse pub fair like fish and chips, chowder, salmon cakes, etc.), Ivar's ranks one of my favorites simply for all the good memories I will have of this place on Friday nights. My favorite dish here is the Blackened Wild Salmon Caesar Salad.

Decent happy hour with interesting desserts. Good place to eat salmon (I like Copper River season the best) with some out-of-town guests.

This place is good for brunch with your overweight family. Brunch is all you can eat and results in a giant pigfest. But there is something for everyone there. The food is not great and is bad for you but is tolerable.

I've been there for happy hour and for dinner. I gotta say, the happy hour is totally worth it, especially on a nice summer afternoon when you can sit outside and have a spectacular view of the skyline. All that and great food for about $10 :) PLUS, it's 7 days a week, not just Mon to Thu like other places. Dinner's pretty good too!

This place is a mixed bag. It doesn't earn my highest rating because it is not great at all times. At lunch, avoid the fried food and go straight for the smoked salmon chowder. The happy hour can be a deal, but the food is a bit inconsistent. Always eat on the deck.

Food is good especially for the price, though I am only counting happy hour and the fish bar outside. Appetizers in the 2-6 dollar range during happy hour, beers in the 3-4 dollar range, with lots of variety. Too bad the place closes at 11:30...

Awesome happy hour (4-6pm, 9-11pm)--big sea-foody portions for not a lot of money. Six oyster shooters for $3? C'mon, how can you not order it!

It is VERY important to note that I rated this high based on it's happy hour bar menu, not their regular menu. Their happy hour is particularly nice because it is so frequent.

My experience with dinner is just kind of "meh". I ordered some fried clams and they were just tasteless mush.

in the past i would've given them two thumbs. i'm really sad that their sunday brunch is not nearly as high quality as it once was (yet is still very expensive). e.g. they used to cook crepes from batter right in front of you, but now they just slap frozen pre-made ones on the pan. their lunch and dinner stuff is still fine though.
