With today's release, we're rolling out another feature people have been asking for: a way for z-vite organizers to approve people that get invited to an event.
The original example given was for the case of a surprise birthday party, where there was always a risk that someone might accidentally invite the birthday boy/girl. Others have requested the feature so they can leave an event open for people to invite their friends, but also retain some control over who gets invited (e.g. in the case of limited space).
You'll find this new feature under the "Who can invite people to this event?" setting on the create z-vite page. Set it to "Invitees can invite their friends but require your approval", and anyone who is invited to the event will need your approval before they're added to the invite list, and are notified of the event (by email, and on their Zoji calendar).
Other Improvements
If you're having a little trouble finding the "Who can invite people to this event?" setting, it's because we've shuffled around some of the create a z-vite form settings to simplify the form. You'll now find that setting, and several of the less-frequently used settings hidden under an "advanced settings" link.
"Plan an event" links: restaurants and bars now have a "Plan an event here" link for an easy way to organize an event one of those locations.
Front page changes: You may have noticed the new testimonials on our login page. Thanks to everyone who provided us with quotes! We decided to replace the "Zoji Peeps" and "Recent Blog Posts" boxes on the front page since we thought they made it seem like blogging was the main focus of Zoji to the exclusion of our other nifty features.
Email bugs fixed: Some of you may be glad to know that we've finally knocked out a couple of annoying email bugs that have been around for a while--specifically, the bug where you'd get several copies of an email sent to a group of people, and one where attachments weren't being delivered to your external email address. Woo!
Minor bug fixes and polish. 'Nuff said.

Tonight, we rolled out some improvements to picture viewing.
First off, you'll notice now when viewing a picture index, there's a view toggle in the upper left corner of the page that lets you switch between the default thumbnails (20 per page), and mini-thumbnails, which can display 100 per page. This makes it quite a bit handier to scan a bunch of event pictures for comments since you can view most or all of the pictures in one page rather than, say, flipping through five pages of pics.
We've also improved the behavior of picture pagination--previously when you'd click the "View this album" or "Pictures of <event name>" links on a picture's page, it'd take you to the beginning of that album or event picture set. This tended to be very annoying, especially if you were on, say, the fourth page of pictures. People would make liberal use of the back button to get back to the index page that they were on.
Now, "View this album" and "Pictures of <event name>" links are smart and will take you back to the appropriate index page for the picture you're currently viewing. Woohoo.
Among the other things we've rolled out in the last couple of weeks:

Among the other things we've rolled out in the last couple of weeks:
- Added a Video Games tips category and modified how Zoji Suggestion tips are displayed.
- E-mail notifications for when any of your e-mail contacts become Zoji members.
- You no longer get a notification for the first picture uploaded to an event (usually the event picture).
- You now have the option not to notify people when you upload personal, group, or event pictures.
- Group blog posts may now be featured.
- Fixed some bugs with related groups.
- Fixed some profile importer bugs.

The people of Zoji have spoken, and they've said they want to be able to reorder their pictures. And so it is done.
Go to your photo albums page and on each album you'll see a new "reorder pictures" link. Click it, and hopefully you can figure out the rest. ;-)

New to Zoji recently are a couple of new privacy options. Previously it was possible to make your profile visible only to Zoji users--non-Zoji users (and this includes Google) could not view your profile if this option was selected.
Well, now you can have even finer-grain control over your profile by going to your account settings page. The setting has been expanded to the following four options:
Our second new privacy option has to do with your Zoji URL (e.g. http://www.zoji.com/kevin). Previously, your URL was based on your Zoji username. Well, we decided that for the sake of security/privacy, users should have the ability to choose a URL that does not expose their username. So, you can now change your Zoji URL name to a new value provided it's available. You'll find this in your account settings page, and on your profile page (notice the "change" link next to your URL).
That is all.

I just noticed an email I sent got sent out 9 times...I think the email server is being screwy. I will be over to investigate tomorrow. Sorry for any inconvenience this causes...
EDIT (12/31 @ 7:57 PM): Mail problems appear to be fixed now. It seems that both inbound and outbound mail may not have been delivered in the last day. If you had sent mail to any external non-zoji email addresses last night or today, you may want to send it again. Likewise if you were expecting any email, you might want to ask the sender to send it again.
Never seen that problem again (and naturally, it decides to happen when Dan's gone), and hopefully never will again. Again sorry for the inconvenience!
EDIT (12/31 @ 8:52PM): Nevermind! Looks like all that queued up inbound and outbound mail is getting delievered after all, just a little late! Phew!
